Did you read my last post yet? It was all about my must have deep conditioners. Check it out here and let me know what you think.

This week I’m sharing my must have stylers! Although I have other styling products in my stash at this time - I narrowed it down to my absolute current favorites. What are some of your favorites? I would love it if you shared some below!

To me, a styling product is what I use to define my curls, or style twists and braids. Sometimes I’ll use one over a leave-in conditioner/moisturizer, and sometimes my styler is a “one and done.”

Similar to my deep conditioner post, these products are Black-owned! Supporting small businesses owned by men and women of colorful is extremely important to me for a number of reasons. I have an older post all about it here; I list quite a few brands you can check out too.

This product, although labeled as a gel, has a consistency that is on the runnier side, and it has a very soft hold. I love that it defines my natural curl pattern and it doesn't dry crunchy at all. When I use this gel - I can expect a big and fluffy wash and go! Although I use this over a leave-in conditioner, I think it's very moisturizing as well and could work as a "one and done." I love the peppermint scent myself, but they also have  a fragrance free option. I know a lot of people aren’t into scented products, so I love seeing brands do this! At 12.99 for a 12 oz bottle, I find this to be really affordable too!

I first tried this product in 2017 and immediately fell inlove. I use it as a “one and done” product - meaning it’s my moisturizer and styler. When I use this for braids, I can wear the braids for up to 5 days, take them down and then wear the braid out for at least another 2-3 days. It’s also my go to product for styling mini twists because the moisture is soo long lasting. It has a medium consistency, not as heavy as a butter but definitely a little more than a cream. It melts into my hair beautifully and it’s a great detangler. You can use my discount code CONSY15 to save money on this brand!

Before you even read this stop and look at this picture. Those are my wet to dry curls with this styler! I swear they look photoshopped!! (I also used the Denman brush to define.) They aren’t though, this jelly is bomb! What is frizz?! The consistency feels like a gel, but in my experience it doesn’t dry like one at all. It definitely provides some hold and lots of definition, but it doesn’t dry hard! It’s buildable, meaning you can add more for more hold - but I also found that it didn’t weigh my hair down. With all that being said, one of my favorite things about this product is that it’s handmade and non-toxic.

This list wasn’t in any specific order.. but I think I may have saved the best for last. Out of these four products, this one has proved to be the most multifunctional (for me). Meaning that it’s not just for wash and go’s and I don’t only use it for braid-outs, it’s for ANYTHING!! I have used this styler for pretty much any hairstyle that I do and it never disappoints. Sometimes I wash my hair and I’m not even sure which style I’ll be doing or what products I’m going to use. When that happens, I pretty much always just grab something from this brand. Lately, it has been this gel!! This picture  is a day 4 wash and go using this as the styler. It also works really well for braids, braid-outs, buns and ponytails. Like the Coco Jelly, it’s buildable. I use more or less depending on the hairstyle. It’s part of the Extreme Hydration bundle, the entire line smells like candy and each and every product is the bomb.com!! This line has a styling custard that I desperately wanted to include in here as well but my OCD wouldn’t let me include 2 products from the same brand. My discount code CONSYTEN, doesn’t apply to bundles or sales, but you can use it for anything else. (Add this bundle to your cart now and thank me later.)

Woooo! It was hard to narrow these down but I did it. I think something all these products have in common is that they don’t dry super hard. I’m all for definition, but hard gel casts I can honestly do without. I’ve never really been into crazy level 10 type hold. I also use every one of these in combination with my Ayurvedic oil. When I use a gel/jelly, I use a leave-in conditioner, my oil, and then the styler. If I need to separate curls afterwards, I will use a little bit of my oil again. When I'm using a "one and done" product like the twisting cream, I first wet my hair with water or my Hibiscus Hair Tea, I apply the cream, and then seal everything in with my Ayurvedic oil. Both the tea and the oil are multipurpose products that can be used a number of ways!

Have you tried any of these? If not, what’s your favorite styler?

Thank you for reading!

Hey doll, glad you finally did this. My holy grail is Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic. I have the Extreme Hydration bundle and the first time I used the Creme Gel I had horrible flaking. I definitely used too much so I need to revisit that one asap. Thank you for remembering to share this with us.

This is a great post sis! I really want to try that Pydana Green Tea & Babassu Buttercream, it sounds really good! I have a lot of favorite stylers but my top one would be the Irish Moss Styling Cream from Nature’s Little Secret!
